Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker shifts the kaleidoscope further with “Apocalypse Dreams,” a trippy appetizer from the band’s forthcoming album, Lonerism. What starts out as a bright- eyed piano jaunt morphs gently into a psychedelic fuzzfest reminiscent of much of their 2010 debut Innerspeaker. But this track’s tight opening sug- gests Parker has a few new tricks up his sleeve for the future. But you won’t have to wait that long: this is the perfect anthem for your hazy lazy sum- mer. When Parker’s woozy vocals give way to an onslaught of synths three minutes in, you’ll know you’re on that journey to the apocalypse with him.
