1. Frank sends Carl to “cancer camp.” Despite Carl not actually being afflicted with terminal cancer, Frank ships him off to Camp Happy Hopes without getting anything out of it. Frank may have tried to use Carl and his fake illness last week to score court-side seats at a Chicago Bulls game, but this kind of makes up for it. Kind of.

2. Fiona tries to put an end to “Bobby breaks.” After Fiona discovers that all of her female coworkers at the supermarket are keeping their jobs by performing sexual favors for their slimy boss, Bobby, she invites them over for a party. In a valiant effort, Fiona strives for collective action to abolish “Bobby breaks.” Fiona’s coworkers seem to be moved by her righteous indignation, but ultimately (to Fiona’s dismay), the women choose a meager wage and sexual abuse over the possibility of losing their jobs altogether.

3. Lip and Mandy rescue Mandy's half-sister from foster care. When Mandy’s half-sister’s mom dies of an overdose, Lip suggests that they drive to Milwaukee to rescue the girl from foster care. As Lip and Mandy grow closer, he seems to be willing to do anything for her, including stepping up to the role Mandy’s Family Hero. But how can Lip save her family if he can’t even keep his own family together? Lip the hero, or Lip the hopeless romantic?

4. Frank helps Sheila spruce up her relationship with Jody. In an uncharacteristic bout of benevolence, Frank shows that he has at least one well-intentioned bone in his body (at least for this week). With Sheila’s sex life not being enough and Jody being scared to get back into his old, sex-addicted ways, the logical solution is to ask Frank for help... Right?

As Frank coaches Jody through Sheila’s sex toy fetish, it becomes apparent that he will do just about anything for shelter and a home-cooked meal. Frank might be an asshole, but at least this week he’s a helpful asshole.

5. Frank helps Debbie with her swimming skills. In yet another surprising act of goodness, Frank helps Debbie with her swimming skills so she can hold her breath underwater when the “savage little Cosby kids” inevitably try to drown her at the city pools. Frank, your racism is showing.

Moral of the story: trying to help others always has consequences, especially on the South Side.
