Album Review: Phantogram

“Voices”

Phantogram

In a world of CHVRCHES and Grimes and Neon Indian and The xx, atmospheric synth–pop is pretty much everywhere. Phantogram has been up there with the rest of the chillwave best since “Eyelid Movies” debuted in 2010, but this time they refuse to just melt in the background as you shop at Urban Outfitters. Although the persistent mid–tempo beats fall a little flat on some tracks, instant anthems like “Black Out Days” and “Fall In Love” are definitely enough to make up for it.
