Album Review: Here and Nowhere Else

“Here and Nowhere Else” by Cloud Nothing

Cloud Nothings’ latest album “Here and Nowhere Else” is the answer to your middle–school–punk–phase prayers. The first track “Now Hear In” sets an ultra–quick pace—and the album only grows in intensity from there. Just try listening to “No Thoughts” without screaming along in frustration, “You don’t even seem to care and I don’t even talk about it.” Cloud Nothings deliver the low–fi angst you expect from garage punk, but what really makes this album great are the unexpected moments of joy. The catharsis ends with “I’m Not Part of Me,” which has serious anthem potential and is easily the best track on the album. Words to live by: “I’m trying to be here and nowhere else.”

Sounds best when: Screaming along to lyrics in the Gregory basement
