What many pizza places in Philadelphia lack is the brick oven to make their pizza authentic - and that's why Soho Pizza, between 2nd and 3rd on Market, stands alone as the best brick oven pizzeria in the city. With crust covered in garlic as standard, the thin Soho slice is good to the last bite. Famous for their BBQ chicken pizza, Soho is on par with Allegro's, serving the perfect BBQ slice, but Soho quickly surpasses our local favorite in all other categories. The Hawaiian pizza, covered with pineapple and tiny pieces of bacon, is soft enough to melt in your mouth - in a good way. Veggie lovers have many options as the vegetables come straight from the Italian market on at least four of the meat-free pizza varieties. But the real test of a pizzeria is their plain cheese slice ($1.85). Soho makes the grade with a larger-than-average triangle that is served piping hot. Though it may be considered a social faux pas to order a cheesesteak at a pizzeria ($6), Soho can whip up a steak on par with Gino's - except there's only American cheese here, no whiz.

The Cira Centre - aka the funky glass building next to 30th Street Station - is creating a culinary renaissance on this side of the Schuylkill with its newest addition, Rae. Set on the first floor of this post-modern (there's truly no shape that can describe it) structure, the restaurant is connected through an above-ground walkway to the train station.

Work your day game. It'll be the key to your long term success with ladies. That's what I tell my friends, specifically my boy Rodney. [Ed: Names have been changed to protect the identities of perpetrators] "Day game" is a term defined as introducing yourself to females, flirting with them, partaking in meaningful conversation and playing the "nice guy." Because when your "night game" (read: drug-and-alcohol-induced mating period) is turned on, you become aggressive, rude and mean. Your night game does, however, allow you to dance. And at that hour, that's what's most important.

You're downtown, alone and hungry, but you only have $9 in your pocket. You're roaming through Rittenhouse Square, but as you look at the menus in the windows, the prices make you grit your teeth. Alas, the only escape from your misery as you hoof your way back to Penn is the odd fast food joint and gas station. But, just before you head over the mighty Schuylkill ... lo-and-behold, you pass The Caf‚ at 2011 Walnut St. Enter here, tired pauper, where a Hamilton in the pocket will feed you like a prince.

Combining the elegance of a black tie affair, the tranquility of a day at the beach and the hustle and bustle of the all-you-can-eat buffet is no easy task. Fogo de Chao, a new Brazilian steakhouse situated between the Gayborhood and City Hall fuses these three elements like turducken.

Every Super Bowl weekend for the past 15 years, Philadelphia has celebrated a Bowl of its own. Wing Bowl began in 1993 as a small, two-man chicken wing-eating competition - a radio promotion designed by 610 WIP talk show hosts Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti. Since then, it's become one of the premier professional eating competitions in the world and, moreover, a Philly institution. In the early morning of February 2, a crowd of 20,000 fans filled the Wachovia Center to take part in the gastronomical mayhem of Wing Bowl 15: "Philadelphia Against the World."

Despite all the hype surrounding Restaurant Week, some of the bargains may be gilded. Menus are limited, and $30 is still a considerable amount of money to spend before tax and tip. To make the most of your meal, make sure to check whether your selections are BYOs. And before making a reservation on impulse, visit Philadelphia Menupages (http://philadelphia.menupages.com/) to scope the Restaurant Week menu for your desired eatery.

On Nov. 7, Election Night, Senator-elect Bob Casey joined thousands of supporters at the Scranton Cultural Center on the campus of Lackawanna College to celebrate his victory. Rick Santorum lamented his loss at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. And Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli chowed down on herb-infused chicken at the Hard Rock Caf‚ in Washington D.C. At 4:59 p.m., after an arduous ride through downtown Washington, just seconds before the end of the business day, Romanelli filed a brief at the United States Supreme Court arguing that a Pennsylvania trial court judge and the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court shouldn't have tossed him off the ballot. Romanelli made history by collecting 99,802 signatures on petitions to become a candidate in this year's Senate race. His hard work became null and void because of challenges put forth by Bob Casey and his Democratic Party - taking full advantage of state laws that are specifically designed to inhibit the growth of third parties.

Some people go to Pottruck to shed a few pounds, while others aim to bulk up. And then there's everyone else: the folks who claim to visit 37th and Walnut for a workout, but are really only working out their hormones. You've seen them, and they've seen you. To maximize your pick-up potential at the gym, start with the strategic selection of an elliptical. Just line up next to the girl who is only five minutes into her workout, but hasn't yet broken a sweat. Then, make sure you bend down to "re-tie" your sneaks while she's flipping to the next page of Cosmo. Showing off that ass will score you points and you're halfway there. Pull out your sleek iPod uber-nano and the latest issue of Men's Health. And then wait - while ellipticalling, of course. Build up your pace to show that you're in fantastic shape though you really feel like you're on the verge of a heart attack. Launch that incline to its peak. But remember that when it comes to the come-on, it's all in the timing. She comes to a gradual halt, disappointed that she's only burned 374 calories from her 105 pound frame. You're content with your 132 calories because you were never here to workout anyway. Jump on over to the same paper towel dispenser as her. Let her hand you the sanitzing spray bottle with a subtle thanks and nothing more. Follow her to the water fountain/locker and let the petty conversation take you all the way home for some more raunchy/nasty/orgasmic adventures.*

My great uncle, in the Union Army, happened to be stationed in Washington D.C., and the army was presenting these new hot air balloons to President Lincoln at the White House. He was absolutely fascinated by this presentation. After he got home from the Civil War, he got together with his brothers and they got some sheets or whatever they used then, and built a balloon. Everyone loved it. They started going to carnivals and fairs and those sorts of things." It's the third time Eddie Allen Jr., age 88 tells us the story, but it's still great. The Allen family has been free-falling from hot air balloons since 1866, 135 years before the first episode of Fear Factor.

When I was in 9th and 10th grade, I loved Instant Messenger so much. Who didn't? It was our window to the world - but it was a very, very slow window. It was the Dial Up Era and oh, how fun it was to get kicked offline or achieve a busy signal while trying to get on AOL.

Our biggest misconception is that it's gonna be stuffy and I'm not talking about the air quality, I'm talking about the people." Thanks to both the highest quality air filtration system on the market and a down-to-earth proprietor, the atmosphere at Mahogany on Walnut is anything but stuffy.

If you're reading this right now, chances are, you're blazed off your rocker. Since you're incapable of studying or doing anything productive, might as well go out there and rent a classic stoner film because you probably lacked the foresight to get your Netflix cue arranged with 4/20 in mind...
