Remix Wednesday: "We Made It (Remix)"—Jay–Z & Jay Electronica

It wouldn’t be unfair to accuse Jay–Z and Jay Electronica for prioritizing money over music—Hov has always been about his business, even if that means dumbing down his content, and Elec has been off with multi–millionaire girlfriend Kate Rothschild while fans eagerly await for his almost mythical debut album, “Act II.” Out of nowhere, the label mates recently linked up for the second time ever over the infectious “We Made It” beat popularized by Drake (and Soulja Boy), and the result is money in the bank.

"Supermodel:" Foster the People Foster The People surprises audiences with “Supermodel,” the indie–rock band’s second album.

Album Review: Singles

"Singles:" Future Islands Future Islands’ new album, “Singles,” is a perfect demonstration of how a band can grow over time, yet simultaneously remain static.

Haiku Reviews

“THE RITE OF SPRING” THE BAD PLUS If you missed them at The Village Vanguard this fall, listen to this now.

Album Review: Shakira

“Shakira:” Shakira It’s been almost four years since we’ve heard new music from Shakira, but her new material is worth the wait.

Review: Friends with Better Lives

There are two reasons why I’m looking forward to March 31st: it’s my 21st birthday, and it’s the series premiere of CBS’s new sitcom, “Friends With Better Lives.” With “How I Met Your Mother” coming to a close and Pottruck’s limited supply of “Friends” episodes quickly diminishing, I need a new group of dysfunctional friends to be jealous of.

You Have To Listen To This: Wild Beasts

You’ve never been into indie rock. I know. I understand. There’s just something missing. “I just need...It doesn’t have enough...” I look at you, recognition shining in my eyes.

Haiku Reviews

Roses are red. Spring break is over. Read these Haikus if St. Patrick’s Day hasn’t turned you into a four–leafed–clover.

Album Review: Joyland

“Joyland:” Trust “Joyland” is the ironically–named second LP from gothic–synth artist Trust, and it sounds just like what you would expect gothic–synth to sound like: Crystal Castles, except less catchy.

Album Review: Atlas

“Atlas:” Real Estate Listening to the new Real Estate album elicits the feeling of longing for bygone summer day moments of serene beauty tinged with just a little sadness.

Review: Unseen at Tiger Strikes Asteroid

319 N. 11th Street exploded last week with multiple show openings on every floor of the building including the notable “Unseen” show at Tiger Strikes Asteroid featuring the paintings of Philadelphia artist Keith Crawley. Open until March 30th, the exhibition features five eerily photographic paintings in the tiny two–windowed room.

Album Review: Voices

“VOICES”—PHANTOGRAM In a world of CHVRCHES and Grimes and Neon Indian and The xx, atmospheric synth–pop is pretty much everywhere.
