If you loved Night Watch two years ago, you're in for a treat with Night Watch 2. This Russian sci-fi/thriller/fantasy/action flick will surely knock your socks off... if you don't pass out from all the gory blood-stained battles first. Director Timur Bekmambetov, who has made a bunch of Commie movies that none of us have ever heard of, went crazy with Night Watch 2.

The film starts off innocently enough, with an old woman giving a man a potion of his blood and lemonade that will purportedly abort the baby that he is expecting with the woman who recently dumped him. The premise of the film is that "light" and "dark" forces in Moscow fight each other to keep themselves under control. The highlight of the film is its ridiculous cinematography. Every special effect that you've ever seen in any movie compacts itself into this bizarre story. With battle scenes akin to The Matrix combined with the biting of Silence of the Lambs, this thriller has elements of the quintessential sci-fi-horror masterpiece. But, oh wait, it's Russian with subtitles.... Overall, the plot is too cooky to follow, but if you're into artsy flicks, this one will keep you captivated.
