Despite its name, Just Salad offers more than greens. From salads to smoothies to wraps and more, the fast–casual chain restaurant is already making a name for itself on campus as the perfect spot to grab something healthy. The restaurant just opened at its new location at 3728 Spruce Street.
The restaurant differentiates itself by emphasizing sustainability with their reusable bowls initiative. Buying a bowl once for an extra $1 allows you to receive free toppings with every visit, specifically “two free essential toppings, one free cheese, or one free premium” topping.
Just Salad pushes transparency to the forefront. They source their organic ingredients fresh daily from local farmers. The menu, which boasts 10 items under $10, even clarifies the number of calories in each food item, including the dressings, and gives the amount of saturated fat, trans fat, carbohydrates, and sodium in each.
There’s a wide variety of salads to choose from, including the popular “Smokehouse Steak” and “Tokyo Supergreens,” but you can also customize your own. There is also a range of bowls, wraps, or soups if you’re not in the mood for salad. More unique offerings include avocado and hummus toasts on multigrain bread and smoothies like the “Avocado Dreamsicle” as well as the more standard “Strawberry Banana.” They also offer a You Pick Two option where you can pair any salad with a soup, toast, wrap or smoothie for $12.
When we went, we tried the You Pick Two option, building our own salad bowl with spicy avocado dressing and a squeeze of lemon to eat alongside the Avocado Crunch Toast, which gets its delicious crunch from the crispy onions and pumpkin seeds on top of feta crumbles and a generous spread of smashed avocado. Considering how filling the combo was, at $12, it was definitely a steal.
Open from 10:30 am to 9:30 pm on weekdays and 11am to 9pm on weekends, Just Salad is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Also, for the month of April, they are having happy hour from 3–6pm with 50% off all smoothies.
